"In each one of us there are flowers and there is also garbage. The garbage is the anger, fear, discrimination, and jealousy within us. If you water the garbage, you will strengthen the negative seeds. If you water the flowers of compassion, understanding, and love, you will strengthen the positive seeds. What you grow is up to you." — Thích Nhất Hạnh

Today in user-hostile decisions Apple did not want to publicize: only the Pro version of iPhone 15 is USB 3.0. The non-pro version, despite being USB-C, stays USB 2.0. This is a symptom of the fact they're using iPhone 14 Pro SoCs in the 15. Maybe they shouldn't release new phones when the current ones are fine and they've still got tons of chips sitting in inventory.
I need to make more posts but life has gotten in the way of writing lately. Imposter syndrome is also a pain in the ass.
Took my LLM/AI blog posts down for the meantime. I may make new, more concise posts, but I am aiming to try not to be alarmist/defeatist or just someone spreading doom or FUD. While I am quite opposed to the current landscape for these systems, I also don't want to give them too much credit. I want to ensure I give humans enough credit for being able to adapt to new paradigms and tools.
The issue with current LLMs/AIs is more reflective of society than it is of the systems themselves, but knowing that, they should have been released more carefully.
I recommend Dan McQuillan's writings on AI. I plan to soon read his book, Resisting AI: An Anti-fascist Approach to Artificial Intelligence

Came across this site today, seems to have a number of good resources for people that need assistance, and has selections based on country.
